Mya's Promise acknowledges that this is  a challenging time for education, particularly early childhood special education.  Appliications are now open for grants to fund  equipment, training, tools or resources for your classroom.  We have also supported our speech, occupational and physical therapists as well.

Pictured is the 2019-20  recipient.  Ms. Stevphanie Ballard teaches Special Education at Yale Elementary. She has used her $500 grant to purchase supplies and programs that will enhance the learning and behavior of children with a variety of special needs.  A sensory hallway will be installed soon.

 

Mr. Long was an original board member of Mya’s Promise who had a great passion for Early Childhood Education.  He was moved by the progress children with special needs could make with early intervention.  His memory was honored by the creation of this grant in 2017.  Grants have been awarded to teachers at Sangre Elementary in 2017-18 and Glencoe Elementary in 2018-19.
