Mya's Promise began in 2006 as the Mya Gonzales Foundation. Soon after Mary and Jimmy Gonzales moved to Stillwater, where Jimmy had accepted a position as an assistant coach at OSU, they learned that they were expecting their third child and that she would have Down Syndrome.
